David Scott was born in Dublin and studied voice with Emmanuel Lawler in the DIT Conservatory of Music and Drama, graduating with a First Class Honours Bachelor of Music Degree.
His operatic roles include Jupiter in ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’ (Gleeson Theatre), Aeneas in ‘Dido and Aeneas’, (Opera Antiqua) and he recently sang Marcello (La Bohème) in DIT’s Night at the Opera in the National Concert Hall. He has sung the Baritone Solo of ‘Carmina Burana’ (NCH) and the Baritone Solo for Fauré’s ‘Requiem’ as part of the Alliance Francais Cultural Programme. He was also the bass soloist for Handel’s ‘Israel in Egypt’ with the Orchestra of Saint Cecilia and was a soloist in the Benjamin Britten Festival in St Mary’s ProCathedral last November. He also toured North Germany in 2012 with the choir of the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival.
David is a Feis Ceoil gold medal winner, and has won the ‘Corn MacEoghan’, ‘Trófaí Mháirtín Uí Dhiomsaígh’ and Charles Wilson Cup for opera scene. In DIT Vocal Competitions has won The Messiah Cup for oratorio, Leo Maguire Trophy and gold medal for French song.
